First off, pretty much every variation of "Russell Family Blog" has already been taken. Apparently members of the vast Russell lineage are prolific bloggers. Go figure.
So, as I was sitting at my computer trying to come up with a title which would appropriately define this blog, I happened to glance over and see our cat, Ocean, slumbering in a sunny spot on the floor. Ocean is a wild cat which we rescued in Turkey, and she is normally pretty active. She loves to be outside - exploring, wandering, socializing . . . But occassionally she will just stop and veg in some random spot (usually right in the middle of a high-traffic area). So the term "Dormant Ocean" came to mind. I typed it in, it was available - and there we have it.
Now, for the "deep" explanation: I love the word "dormant." I love how it means stillness, but with an implication that action is laying just below the surface (as in a volcano). Conversely, the word "ocean" evokes images of constant motion and global exploration. So, typically, Dormant Ocean would be an oxymoron - one word denoting repose while the other is never still. This is also an apt description of how I currently feel about my life. For the past few years, our family has been in nearly constant motion - exploring the world and having great adventures. But we are now in a dormant phase, staying in one place; resting; but anxiously anticipating the next opportunity for adventure. We are, in effect, a Dormant Ocean.
Whew! How's that for deep?

WOW! I remember asking you last year to find your favorite word(s) that explained how you felt at your core. I think you found it. I am looking forward to your posts.
That is so deep, and yet so fitting for your blog title.
So you liked Life Of Pi? I read some of it for a theory class in school (we were suppose to read the whole think, but it is just so hard for an English major to keep up on "all" their reading). It's probably one of the cleaner things I've read in school!
Excellent name and explanation!
