Saturday night was Jared's 8th Grade Banquet - the big party for the kids who are transitioning to High School next year. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I don't have a lot of time to spend typing up my thoughts on the whole event. Suffice it to say that, for the most part, I think it was a worthwhile evening. And I am SOOOO thankful to have a son who makes such great choices in the friends that he chooses to hang out with - both boys and girls. 'Nuff said.

Every year they have a new theme, complete with ELABORATE decorations, props, etc. This year, the theme was Teatro Woodward (modeled after
Teatro ZinZanni in Seattle).

Jared was in great need of some new Sunday clothes (the boy grows like a stinkin' weed), so we bought him a nice suit just in time for the evening. He looked sharp!

When Adana saw him, she was in love! She declared that she was going to marry Abi (the Turkish word for big brother) and insisted on having her picture taken with him.

Jared went with his best friend, Harrison. Another great guy! These two are eerily alike. I'm so thankful that his family moved here last summer.

Jared with his great group of friends. Gotta love those girls who shun the trends and dress modestly and comfortably. One of Jared's best friends, Kylie (first girl on the left, dressed in black) is Adana's idol. Yeah! I'd love for her to grow up to by like Kylie.
They ate & danced & partied until 11pm. Jared said he had a great time, except for the food. There just wasn't enough of it. Note to self: Have Micah eat before going to his 8th Grade Banquet. Nathan suggested they should've just called for a pizza delivery. Not a bad idea.

Okay, must delurk for this post: Harrison was in our Seattle North Stake scout troop until his family moved. He is a great guy, and we miss him! So glad to see he's settled in so well.
(Love your blog, BTW, and congrats on the little one-in-progress!)
I love the picture of Jared and Harrison! Fast forward four or five years and that's what they'll look like as missionary companions, only taller of course!
I know I'm his aunt so this might come out kinda wierd but....if I were a 13 year old girl I would soo have a crush on Jared!
