Halloween 2012

This year, we (I) decided to paint our pumpkins rather than carve them.  Yeah!  Faster, easier, cleaner, and Torah was able to fully participate.
It rained off & on most of the day on Halloween, but cleared up just in time for our annual costume pictures in front of the red Japanese maple.

Torah the chicken.
I've always loved this costume.  So sad to see my last little chick wearing it.  :(
Adana the orca whale.
She's sort of obsessed with orcas.  If you look carefully, you can see the baby orca that she's holding.
Emma the rainbow.
I LOVE homemade costumes!
Micah the "man."
He wanted to go trick-or-treating with his friends, but my rule is you have to be in costume to go begging for candy.  So he & his friends rummaged through our closets & costume boxes and they all came up with something to wear.  I think he just likes showing off those abs that he works so hard on.
Halloween officially kicks off with trick-or-treating to the downtown businesses.  This is small town living at its best!
Emma's bff, Julia, was so sweet to help Torah along.
I love seeing the creative costumes that people think up.  These octopuses (made from bright  hoodies) were so cute & practical for a chilly evening.
And these boys carrying their heads around in a jar made me laugh out loud!
The highlight, of course, was getting a free cone at Mora's!  The school teachers & principals do the scooping every year.  Double fun for the kids to get ice cream & have it served by their favorite teachers.
After downtown, we always head home for some hot chili & cornbread.  As soon as it's dark (about 6pm), we trick-or-treat our neighborhood, then head over to Commodore, a large neighborhood across the street.

One house always does an amazing Halloween display.  This year, they had Thriller blaring, with zombies dancing across their garage door.
These lights in the yard sang along with Thriller.  Amazing!
Hope you all had a fun, dry, safe Halloween!

We painted ours this year too and had a blast! I'll have to send pics. It was such a better idea than carving!

Love the little chick! Where in the world did you find an Orca costume? And please couldn't you post a pic of Micah's abs without the robe? You know how he loves to show them off!

Ha! You know it's a small town when you recognize the "strangers" in your friends photographs. Love the photos!
