Raising Adana

A few more Adana moments that I want to remember . . .

Have you ever wrapped your hair up in a comb so tight that it is virtually impossible to get it unwrapped?  Yep.
I thought for sure she would have buzzed bangs for the next few months, but I finally managed to get the darn comb out.

At the Pacific Science Center, she didn't hesitate for a second to hold a giant Hissing Cockroach.
As I write this, I'm racking my brain to think of something that Adana actually fears . . .  The only thing I can come up with (honestly) is she is afraid of growing up and having to get married and (Ugh!) kiss a boy on the lips.

Story #1:  She always wants to go to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory for her birthday.  While we were ordering, she KEPT trying to hint to the server that it was her birthday (in the hopes of getting a free birthday treat).  The server was not catching on, and I was getting  really embarrassed.  I told her (sternly!) to knock it off, that we would just buy her a birthday treat.  She pulled a "Hey mom!  Look at that over there!" and while my head was turned, she winked at the server and mouthed, "It's.  My.  Birthday!"
Little stinker.

Story #2:  The whole family was in Seattle one Saturday for some Christmas shopping.  We were trying to decide how to split up - who should go with whom, who needed to buy for whom.  Adana chimed in with, "How about I just stay home with a babysitter so that you can all shop for me?"
Brilliant.

Story #3:  Adana had a Princess birthday party with five other 6/7 year old girls.  At one point, they were all discussing what, exactly, constituted a Princess.  They decided that Adana definitely fit the bill and that she was a TRUE Princess.  I asked, "Well, if Adana is a Princess, what does that make me?"  (Obvious answer is Queen, right?!!?)
Without missing a beat, ALL 6 GIRLS shouted:  "Servant!!!"
Good gravy, ain't that the truth.

Crazy as she is, I sure do love this girl.
(This was her "going to Safeway" outfit one day.)

Adana is a true original!! I love it! I'm sure that given the time Adana and I could be best buddies. I'd let her do my hair and we'd talk fashion. One day!
