An Adana by any other name would still be as goofy! :)

I've been thinking about names today.  I don't know why.  Do I need a reason?  Specifically, I've been thinking about the names of people in my ward.

We've got the typical ones that you'd expect:  lots of Matts, Mikes, Brads, Katies
We've got 3 Julias, 2 Kennedys, 2 Haydens (1 boy and 1 girl)
We have 4 Emmas (2 of which, including mine, are in the same class)

We also have some cool, unique names:  Dax, Kjell (pron. Chell), Rex, Jules, Cash, Coltrane
Some virtuous names:  Grace, Hope, Charity
Quite a few from nature:  Rose, Lily, Daisy, Willow, Stone
Some awesome old-fashioned names:  Irene, Charlotte, Betty Jo, Wesley
And some international names:  Yeon-mi, Outi, ChunMing, Shi-oon

Then there are the names that always slip me up.
We have a Riley and a Rylan.  A Whitney and a Whitley.  Tiffany (3 syllables) and Tiffny (2 syllables).  Aubrey and Audrey.  Micah and Mikyn.
Yin and Jin are twin boys.  Thank goodness the merciful Lord gave Yin a mole on his right cheek.
There's also a man in the ward who goes by both John & Tom.  I've been in this ward for 6 1/2 years and I'm still confused about which to call him.

We have a Gordon Clark and a Clark Williams.  I always want to call them both Clark.
And so I fully empathize with everyone who constantly confuses me (Brooke Russell) with my friend Gretchen Brooks.  She is often asked questions meant for the Primary president, and the other day I had someone nagging me about arranging a baby shower for a gal that Gretchen visit teaches.  Happens all the time.

One thing I'm pretty sure about, though, is that nobody will ever confuse Adana.  She's definitely one of a kind!  :)

We got moved to a tiny branch here a few months ago and what do you know...out of the 12 women there are 3 Jessicas! 3! Never have I been around 3. I was the only one in my HS and it wasn't until I was in my early 20s and teaching school did I encounter a handful of Jessicas. I'm thinking these other 2 may be of the age that they could have been one of those students that I taught...I don't actually like to think about that much at all. Now in a tiny branch I am using my full name to talk to anyone. Strange. In that tiny branch we have a Fory, Dakota (girl), Denver (girl), Aspyn, and Jag! What a funny small group we are.

Oh, I forgot, it is Adana's middle name that really makes her unique.

I don't think my YSA ward has ever had fewer than 2 Jessicas. Last summer, we had 4. Thank goodness they all went by different nicknames! We're also doubled up on Emilys and Shannons. We've got a he-Jordan and a she-Jordan, too. There's also Aaron and Erin.
I think the strangest, though is 2 Laurens and a Lorin. I've designated them as Lauren, Boy-Lorin and Lauren the Younger.
