First, a preface. Anyone who has read this blog for very long, or who knows Adana well, will probably not need the preface. But I just want to put it out there anyways, to clear up any possible misconceptions.
You know how sometimes there are kids who wear crazy things, or do outrageous things, and their parents claim, "It was all him!" or "She came up with this idea all on her own!" And you sit there and think, "Yeah, right. No 7-year old would really do that without obvious input from a parent."
Well, a few weeks ago, Adana declared that she wanted to get her hair cut.
Then she started getting annoyed with her hair, always wearing it tucked up in hats.
Then she couldn't sleep at night unless her hair was pulled up on her pillow, away from her neck.
She hounded me day after day after day to schedule a haircut appointment.
So I did. I thought we would get a trim, like usual.
But oh no. A trim was NOT what she had in mind.
She started googling the haircut that she wanted. When she found it, I did a great job of not showing shock or surprise. Hair is just hair - I've always said so. It doesn't define a person.
So today was the day of the haircut.
She woke up early, so excited!
She insisted that I wash and blow dry her hair, so we could get "Before" pictures:
When we arrived at Lottie's Place to have the fabulous KIM cut her hair, I know that I was far more nervous than Adana.
She walked in fully confident and explained exactly what she wanted.
Kim looked at me for verification. I nodded, "Yes, I'm ok with it."
Kim did a wonderful job! Adana is so totally beautiful! I love this sweet, unique, strong girl.
