It's 11:50pm.
I had to work at a preschool function this evening. Nathan is away at military duty all weekend. I brought the girls to work with me, but I insisted that the boys attend our church Stake Conference in Silverdale this evening. They didn't really want to go, but they agreed to because I asked them to. They are respectful like that.
It was clear blue sky all day. Clear blue sky when I left for work at 5:45pm.
It started snowing a little after 6pm. And hasn't stopped yet.
The boys still aren't home. It's 11:55pm. I've talked to them on the phone. They are fine, driving slowly, carefully. But this is the first time Jared has really driven in the snow. And it's late. And dark. And really cold & snowy. There are lots of cars in ditches.
So I wait up & worry. I'll wait up until they are both home and warmed up and have told me their stories of the night.
And then we will kneel in prayer and offer up our thanks for their safe return, and for our warm, safe house, and the blessing of cell phones which allowed us to stay in touch. And we will pray for anyone else who has to be out on the roads tonight. And we will pray for their loved ones who are worried about them.

When I was raising you guys, I loved the nights when I could lie in bed and check off each one and know they were safe at home. I remember the nights waiting for one or two to come home. Thankful for prayer.
