my family is like a band

Emma's teacher just emailed this to me. Emma wrote it in class yesterday, and her sweet teacher thought I'd like to see it. I am always amazed at the depth of perception and expression in Emma. She really is a very special little girl.

my family is like a band

my mom is the harp making soft beautiful music

my dad is like the electric guitar scaring all of the bad things away with his helpful strings

my sister is like the singer always loving to sing beautiful music

my two brothers are like the back up singers helping if someone is hurt or sick

I am like the drums always bouncy, happy, and excited

If someone loses the beat we stop and help them get back on track

all together we make beautiful music

How old is this child? 30? 40? What a darling, insightful essay. I'd keep her if I were you.

Beautiful! I love children's insights. They are really perceptive, though not always as eloquent as this.

How did you get to be the sweet, quiet harp? I know that if one of my boys wrote it, I'd be the out of tune french horn. Loud and hard to pay attention to.

Nice essay Emma!

That is a really lovely poem. She's a natural writer! I'm glad her teacher thought to share it.
