Emma's Valentine's Party

I don't know. She must have caught me at a weak moment, or perhaps in the midst of a caffeine-induced good mood. But whatever the reason, Emma somehow convinced me to let her have a Valentine's Party. So this afternoon, I played host to 6 (including Emma) sugar-high, giggly Kindergarteners. And yes, I consumed an EXTRA LARGE Dr. Pepper in preparation for the event.
The girls began by giving our front door a HEART ATTACK.

Then we had snacks - cookies, candy hearts, grapes & pretzels. The candy conversation hearts were the biggest hit. They giggled uncontrollably everytime someone got a heart that said "Kiss Me."

Here's Emma showing off her "I Love You" heart.

Jared was trying to read and avoid the whole girly scene, until Brenna approached him with a "Will You Marry Me" heart. He's so embarrassed. :-)

Next, the girls played "Pin the Arrow on the Heart." (Hey, this was a low-budget affair. This was the best I could come up with.)

The girls played a few dozen rounds of Duck, Duck, Goose. That would be Jared running like a blur around the circle, and Micah sitting in the circle. :-) They're such good big brothers.

Then Jared played his violin while the girls played Musical Chairs.

Jared also set up a scavanger hunt for the girls, hiding clues all over the house and leading to a prize of Pixie Sticks at the end. Man, this boy could make some money hiring out to do kids' parties! He's good!

In the end, it was a fun party. No one cried (which is quite an accomplishment with a houseful of 5-6 year old girls!), nothing got broken, and I think everyone had a good time.

That sounds like so much fun!! Jared is awesome on the violin, I so badly want to start Jacob this next year, they have a great Suzuki group here, but I need more money...so I may have to wait until next year, but I still need to get him on the waiting list. He is starting soccer this spring and in the fall Judo--apparently Judo makes good wrestlers.
