But today, nobody memorizes phone numbers anymore! They are all electronically stored in our "Contacts" on our cell phone or in our cordless phone at home. So why waste the brain space on memorizing a phone number when you can pull up hundreds of them with just a few clicks?
Unless, of course, you happen to be somewhere and you *GASP* forgot your cell phone. Or your battery is dead. Or you don't have cell service and you have to use a pay phone (Oh wait, those don't even exist anymore, do they?) HOW in the HECK are you supposed to call someone then?? And forget about looking it up in the phone book, because hardly anyone lists their number in there anymore.
I think I'll add Memorizing Phone Numbers to my kids' homeschool curriculum this year. Someday, I'm sure they'll thank me.

I still memorize phone numbers...it's easier for me to recall it than it is to scroll while driving. I figure when I can't remember them any more, I might have alzheimers.
I always memorize numbers. I have an uncanny memory for them. I think it's a great talent, memorization skills. I think it is good for zeee brain!
OK, I'll memorize your number today. Other than that, really who am I going to call? Got my own memorized just in case :)
*Actually, I still remember most of the numbers from various homes and friends from way too long ago.
Just ask my mom Brooke she has half the wards phome numbers memorized, not joking
Kylie
When mom changed her cell phone number I was totally lost....it has been over 6 months and I still haven't memorized it. I usually do, but I have been lazy (wonder why?) and rely solely on my cell phone to get a hold of her. Technology is a kill joy!
They still have pay phones in airports, I know first hand! I had to use one coming back from San Francisco because I had given my cell phone to Nate to use at EFY. It cost me over $70.00 to call Brad four times, each time under 5 minutes. Yuck!
I do know a lot of phone numbers, like Kylie said. But I've gotten lazier about it now that I have a cell phone. When I worked as a receptionist, I memorized all 300+ employee's extensions and I still remember some of them!
I only memorize one number...my friend Robin...she is my local rolodex...and pretty much always home. I always call her for some numbers from the ward list, or phone book. It's a beautiful thing. So...don't go overboard and overwhelm your brain with numbers...pick one or two and you are good to go.
