Meet Maradona - Micah's new baby greencheek conure. She is 2 months old, and joined our family on Friday, August 6th. Micah couldn't be happier!! He has been studying and planning for his new pet for 2 years. He named her after Diego Maradona, the famous Argentine soccer player. (Greencheek conures come from Argentina.)
The whole family is quickly falling in love with this sweet little bird. She is very mild-mannered and amazingly quiet (so far). She loves to sit on your shoulder (and occasionally nibble on your ear). The first evening that we had her, she immediately fell asleep on Nathan's shoulder while he was watching TV.
Nathan found her a great cage on Craigslist. And he & Micah stocked it with all the perches & toys that a conure could possibly want.
But mostly, Maradona just wants to snuggle up with Micah (he's definitely her favorite!) and take a little nap. She acts just like a baby - plays hard, then needs a nap.

Looks like a great pet! (However, I won't be letting my children see this blog, as a pet is not on MY wishlist!)
Oh, I won't be letting my children see this post either. Jag has been crying for days (honestly) for a pet. I found him a half alive gecko stuck in a spiders web...kept him happy for about an hour. Then the poor thing started going to the otherside and Jag quickly released him, only to mourn him. Why must you Russells be so great to your kids? It makes the rest of us look bad.
I never knew that birds could cuddle! That's such a sweet picture of Micah asleep with his bird.
