At the beginning of the school year, Jared & I started a "Spiritual Challenge." We were both wanting to improve our spiritual focus, and we decided that a little healthy competition might help that along. So, from September 5th through December 20th, we kept a record each day of whether or not we :
- said our Morning Prayers
- said our Evening Prayers
- read our Scriptures
- me - attend the temple monthly
- Jared - have 100% seminary attendance
When we counted up all of our points, Jared had missed 7 and I had missed 12. Drat. Those morning prayers on the weekends tripped me up. :-/
His prize was the privilege of taking some friends - UNCHAPERONED - to our lake house for a couple nights. They did it over Christmas break and had a blast.
So now we have begun Round 2 of our "Spiritual Challenge." This time, we've upped the expectations. From January 6 through June 14, we need to:
- say daily Morning Prayers
- say daily Evening Prayers
- read Scriptures daily
- me - post to my blog once a week
- Jared - write in his journal once a week
- me - attend the temple monthly
- Jared - have 100% seminary attendance
I have obviously gotten quite out of the habit of blogging, so this part is going to be a real challenge. But hey, that's what it's all about.
BTW, if you happen to notice that I haven't blogged by each Sunday, feel free to send me a reminder text. I do NOT want to lose this time. The loser has to buy the winner a soccer jersey of the winner's choice, just in time for the World Cup this summer! I'm already debating which jersey I want . . . Spain? Brazil? Ivory Coast? So many great teams!

You know, I'm no religious expert, but does your God approve of gambling? (Just kidding!)
Oh, I like this! AND...I can try to help you remember because of the time difference I can give you an advantage on Sundays. Win for both of us. You blog and you win.
