It's the little things...

This whole "sending a kid off to college" thing is kinda lame.  I know it's going to happen, I'm HAPPY it's going to happen, and for the most part, I'm pretty ready for it to happen.  Sure, we'll miss Jared.  But this is just the next step in his life & I'm thrilled for him.

But then there are those little moments when something happens that makes my heart catch in my throat a bit.  Like tonight, when I realized that I needed to adjust my Cup of the Day mat.

If you've been to my house in the past 8 years, you've seen this laminated paper on my kitchen counter, right next to the water dispenser in the refrigerator:

I hate having a dishwasher full of cups at the end of the day, especially when my kids only ever drink water, so they aren't very dirty.  So I established a ONE CUP A DAY rule - the kids are each allowed one cup each day, to be stored on their circle on the mat.  In the evening, before I turn the dishwasher on for the night, I load their 5 cups in.  Much easier and space efficient!

But tonight, I made this:

Sigh.

Oh wow! No more cup of the day! Make him one to take to college, he can use it with his roommates especially since he will be the only one who knows how to do the dishes.

My kids have a certain color of cup, but I really need to make a sheet now that the big boys don't want the colored cup but rather a glass. Make me one in your free time would you? :)
