A while back, I discovered this little gem on YouTube: The Helsinki Complaints Choir. I can watch this over and over and never tire of it. The tune is catchy, it just feels good to hear and understand Finnish, and having lived in Helsinki, I can relate to a lot of what they're saying.
Apparently, after the Finns put their woes to music, the idea of a "Complaints Choir" caught on and people all over the world are now combining their love of singing with their love of complaining. Check out this list of Complaint Choirs on YouTube.
Now, I personally don't think that any of the other choirs come close to how good the Helsinki choir is. But they are still fun to listen to. (Sarah - can you understand the St. Petersburg song?)
I don't think I'd have any trouble filling a song with complaints about Bainbridge Island. Heck, I could fairly easily write a song with complaints about my own little corner of Bainbridge Island.
The Russell Family Complaints Song
(to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
Socks are strewn across the floor,
No one clear their plate no more.
Hubby works till late each night
And the kids just love to fight.
Micah's wart won't go away.
Please don't rain another day!
O.K., that took me all of 2 minutes. It's a good thing I picked a short tune.

How funny! I didn't know that we have a complaints choir in Helsinki, but they sure got few things right!
