Me: Ummm . . . I think so. (Not really, but I wasn't about to admit that to her.)
Emma: Well, I AM one. So I need to start carrying accessories. All FASHIONISTAS carry accessories.

Okaaaaaay . . . Can someone please translate the above conversation for me.
Be honest - it means I can probably kiss my zero-balance credit cards good-bye, right?

A fashionista is someone who is into fashion, is really into clothes, and knows all the up-and-coming trends. Yes, you can kiss your 0 balance credit cards goodbye.
PS Emma is sooo adorable!
I looked up the definition of a fashionista. n - Emma Mathis Russell
She is adorable -- not that I can relate to being a fashionista, either. :-)
My suggestion: Go to the craft store and get some bead kits, fabric markers, maybe (if you are feeling especially fearless) a "Bedazzler," and let her create her own accessories. Or do some beginner sewing activities, teach her how to crochet, etc.
Those activities have to be less expensive than taking a debit card to the mall, and they might even count as a homeschooling/unschooling project. ;-D
Of course, I am not a fashionista, so this might be the worst idea ever....
I am laughing my head off!
I remember being part of a 4-H sewing club when I was a young girl. Perhaps we should get Emma and Emma sewing their own fashions!!!
