"OK, they're so NOT going to be famous!"

~Emma, watching an intro to the Beatles on American Idol.
Yeah, my kids are so hip.

"American Idol" is morally wrong on every conceivable level. It celebrates all the wrong values of artistry. Any idiot can be taught to passably sing and dance. Very few, however, can write timeless, catchy, lovely, enduring songs. Why don't we celebrate THOSE people.

Bob Dylan would never have even gotten a tryout on "American Idol." Simon would have shredded him. Paula would have started drinking heavily. And Randy would be blathering about his "pitchiness."

Duh! It's not about good music; it's just entertaining for our family (no swearing, nudity or violence is a big plus for us).

Are you equally upset that Biggest Loser is about exploiting fat people rather than encouraging a healthy lifestyle? News Flash - reality TV is categorically stupid and not to be taken seriously. :-)

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE American Idol. And we occassionally watch the biggest loser, it makes me feel better about myself, that maybe I am not such a heffer after all. :) Go Simon! Go Paula! Yo dawg Randy!
