Southern Pacific Northwest Belles

Adana was invited to a birthday party this week at Bloedel Reserve. The mother of the birthday girl (who was turning 1) asked that all the attendees come dressed in white. I think she had images of beautiful, antebellum-style photographs, with the girls smiling demurely under the shade of the great trees.

Problem #1 - we were dealing with 8 toddlers.

Problem #2 - the party was scheduled from 1-3pm. Can you say NAP TIME!?

Still, the sun was shining, the grounds were serene, and the girls did look adorable in their white dresses . . . when they weren't jumping in puddles or running through flower beds. All-in-all, it was really one of the most pleasant birthday parties I've been to.

Here are some shots of my little belle:

She looks so much like I remember Emma looking in that 3rd photo! Too cute! They grow up so fast!

White dresses? On little girls? How retarded. I hope all the grass stains came out. Moms need to do their girls a favor and stop projecting destructive princess fantasies on them.

She is adorable, and it is o.k. to have princess fantasies every once in a while, even during naptime!

I didn't know that the words "white" and "toddler" even go together. Brave women...real brave women.

Perhaps this was one of those toddlers who do not nap (they do exist, you know; you knew one once upon a time!). It would explain a lot, really:

1) Mom does not know it is nap time, as her little angel does not nap;

2) Mom lost most of her brain cells about ten months ago, because her little darling does not nap -- hence the white dresses.

Did you ever notice that the white shirts are always the last ones left on the sale racks in the boys' departments?

Brooke! I feel I have to defend myself now! To better understand my idea for the "white party" , here are a few things to consider...

1- Party was at 1 because this mom had to get her other children squared away first.
2-This mom has 4, yes 4 boys and finally a little girl.
3- Parents were asked to bring a change of clothes right after the photos.
4- All the little girls that I wanted photographed together, will be growing up together. What neat thing it will be to look back on.
5- Ask anyone! No grass stains!
Brooke.....I am so going to get you back for this one!
Jim,
It wasn't a princess fantasy. It was simply sweet and classic. I'm not sure I understand your point.
