Moving to Bainbridge Island?

Why go through the hassle of packing up boxes and renting a truck? Just move the whole house!

Some friends of mine had a new neighbor move in yesterday. It was seriously AMAZING to watch it happen.

They brought the house into Eagle Harbor on a barge.

They pulled right up to the shore, then they just laid a make-shift bridge. I couldn't believe how simple the whole process seemed.

The house just rolled right off the barge ...
... and across the street to its new home.

I wasn't able to get a shot of it in its final resting place because I had to rush off to get Jared to soccer practice. But it was a very surreal experience to be standing within 10 feet of a 2-story house rolling by.

It's so amazing this can be done! Have you ever seen the Beifuss's house? It was originally barged over from Mercer Island. Crazy! I wonder how much money you save acquiring a house this way.

Thanks for blogging on this! I was so mad I didn't know about it happening! Next time a house is barged around here, let me know, k?
