Maiden Voyage of the Fantastic Four

Three friends and I have decided to kayak around our island. We're going to split the voyage up into small jaunts around our 53 miles of coastline. Our goal is to make it all the way around before Christmas (so that we can mention the feat in our Christmas letters). :-)

One of our husbands (not mine), when hearing about our plan, jokingly called us the Fantastic Four. We humbly thought the title was rather appropriate.

This morning dawned bright and beautiful - the perfect start to our voyage. We spent today paddling around Manzanita Bay, a large bay on the northwest side of the island. The view of the Olympics is one of my all-time favorites. It was even more stunning from the water.

We discovered lots of little coves and passages, things we never would have seen from land. This cute little tunnel led into someone's front yard.

We paddled for about 3 hours this morning. Occassionally it was nice to just float and enjoy the calm sunshine. Dang, I love living here!

Is that Sasquatch running into the brush?? Or merely someone who drank a bit too much Diet Coke while kayaking? :-)

Stay tuned for more updates from the chronicles of The Fantastic Four Does Bainbridge Island. I'm already thinking of a sequel . . . The Fantastic Four Does Kauai or The Fantastic Four Does Malta . . .

What an amazingly cool and totally enviable thing to do! I am DETERMINED to land on Bainbridge one of these years - and when I do, I'm never leaving again.
