Port Madison

Yesterday, the Fantastic Four embarked on Day 2 of our voyage around Bainbridge Island.

Once again, the day was indescribably lovely. The water was soft and calm. The seagulls were calling gently from the shore. And all was well with the world.

I apologize in advance to those of you who are reading this from the dry desert or any other sadly land-locked location. You can just keep trying to convince yourself that Seattle sucks because it is so grey and dreary all the time. :-)

I wish I had gotten a closer shot of these. I know I technically don't need new kayaks, but I would LOVE these matching purple ones!

This is Treasure Island, a small island in the middle of Port Madison. There is one house on it - one awesome, amazing house. The owners own the entire island. The only way to get to it (other than by kayak) is by that long foot bridge in the left of the picture. That might suck on a windy, rainy day when you've just returned from Costco, but I think I could endure the hardship.

One of our favorite things to do while kayaking around is to drool over admire the beautiful waterfront houses. This is one of my favorites. I felt like I was kayaking through the English countryside. But I bet that ivy is crawling with spiders. Shudder.

Duh duh! Duh duh!

As we came out of Port Madison and into the open water of Puget Sound, we were greeted by this amazing view of the Cascade mountains. Dang, I love living here!

Kayak Haiku

Bare feet in warm boat,

Hands dangle in cool water,

Sun kisses my face.

Great day for it! Is that shark a permanent sculpture/object in the water over there?
Off subject....how do you do the "crossing out" thingy in your blogs?
See you tonight.

You have such a gift with words. I love the haiku. You really should start writing more than blog posts and journal entries; you could turn our adventure into a great book!

This looks so beautiful and peaceful. What a great way to see sights, chat with friends, and get some exercise, too.
