Seattle Children's Museum

Yesterday being Presidents' Day, there was no school for the kids & no work for Nathan. (Do moms ever get a day off? Somehow my life never seems to vary much, regardless of national holidays or snow days.) While Nathan dropped the boys off at Snoqualmie for a day of snowboarding, I took the girls over to Seattle and we met up with him over there.

Whenever we go to Seattle, I always try to dress my kids in the brightest clothes possible. Helps me keep track of them easier.

We chose to visit the Seattle Children's Museum because I had a Groupon for it. Ten years ago, when we were living in Seattle and Jared & Micah were little, we had a membership and used to visit quite often. I was a little surprised that it hadn't changed a bit in the past decade. The boys used to LOVE climbing through this fake hollow log.

And they spent hours pretending to drive a Metro bus. Nathan was pretty brave to ride along as a passenger when Adana was at the wheel.

Emma tried her hand (and feet) at rock climbing. It was hard to really get excited about it, though. That little sign above her left shoulder orders kids to only "Climb across the wall, not up it." Yaaaawn. Where's the fun in that? Heaven forbid they actually climb 10 whole feet above the softly padded ground.

These types of places are painfully boring for Nathan, but he was a great sport about it. I never saw him take out his iPhone once! It was so nice to have someone else there to chat with while the kids played, and to help carry Torah around.

I wish I'd gotten a better shot of this. When the boys were little, their favorite part of the Children's Museum was "working" in the taco restaurant. It was so much fun to watch their little sisters doing exactly the same things after all these years. It was my job to play the famished customer, while they served me the exact same rubber tacos that Jared & Micah served me 10 years ago. I think the prices were about the same too. $100 always seems to be the standard charge for grimy pretend Mexican food.

After a few hours, Nathan tore himself away from all the fun we were having to go pick the boys up. The girls & I caught a bus to the ferry terminal and headed home. They were all three fast asleep before we even pulled away from the dock.
