If my post title makes you think of a HUGE WHITE WHALE, you wouldn't be too far off. That's pretty much what my post-baby, post-winter body looks like in running shorts. Stark & blubbery. Ugh.
But this weekend, I was proud to be called a MOBI - Mommas of Bainbridge Island. Our intrepid little group of runners trekked over to Wenatchee this weekend for the
Wenatchee Marathon.
Only one of us ran the full marathon. Go Gretchen (top, center)!!! The rest of us did the marathon relay. It is basically the full marathon course, split into 5 parts: 6.2mi, 3.5mi, 6.5mi, 3.5mi & 6.5mi. Mariann & I (the two with the babies) ran the 3.5 mile stretches.
Stephany (top, left) had these great shirts made up for our team. We looked so stinkin' cool walking around town. If I didn't have Torah attached to me Every. Single. Minute, I would have felt like a college girl again. Can you believe that we have 22 kids between the 6 of us!?

Click on this picture so that you can read the backs of our shirts. :-)

Here is my hand-off in the relay. Stephany looked fabulous after just running over 6 miles! (Don't click on this picture unless you really want to see the full Moby effect.) :-P

Here we are, post-race! And yes, once again Torah is re-attached to her momma. She had a great time chewing up my race number.

Truth be told, this is the REAL reason for running a race - post-race feasting! We were all hankering for a big 'ol burger, fries & milk shake. (Including Torah, of course, who is enjoying her "milk shake" up there.) :-)

YOU GO GIRL(s)!!!!
First--I am SO happy and proud of you! I know you had a blast...Torah completely attached and all! Just think of NEXT year when you do it solo! Isn't it funny how crazy momma's can get?
Second--LOVE the name of your team and the shirts! (In fact, makes me feel slightly guilty that my wacky running group is called the 69ers!--only slightly)
Finally--can NOT believe there are 22 kids between you all! Incredible! Please extend my congrats to your team!
And PS--if you ever want to come over to our side of the state...have I got a relay for you!!!
That is so awesome!! My goal is a 5k. I can walk one, but not run--at least not yet. Love the shirts.
How fun!! I couldn't run 3.5 miles to save my life! Lets be honest right about now I couldn't WALK 3.5 miles to save my life! Good Job!!
Guess you beat out Jenny on who would post first? :)
You are a show off! Running...ugh! I am working up to the point where I can catch my kids if they run from me.
That is awesome. You and Torah did a great job. Congrats on the run, just don't make me do it with you.
Oh, did you know that I make the best doughnuts around?! YEP.
I should just post a link to your page! Wasn't it the best? It was so much fun running with you guys. I'm very proud of us!
