Spring Break 2011

Last week was our Spring Break. My kids enjoyed telling me how ALL of their friends who were going to Hawaii, or Mexico, or Florida, or snowboarding for the whole week. Well, that's all fine & dandy. But I bet they didn't have as much fun as we did! I mean, c'mon. What does Hawaii have over AN ENTIRE DAY OF SPRING CLEANING!?

DAY 1 - Monday

Yep, we started the week off with a bang. I sent the kids up to their rooms with a box of Glad bags and the vacuum cleaner, and I told them that their vacation could officially begin as soon as they cleared 50% of their stuff out of their rooms.

They actually had a great time cleaning out all the old toys & clothes that they never use, and anticipating how much money they were going to make in our annual Yard Sale. Here's the pile they created by the end of the day.

We also managed to clear enough stuff out of Emma's room to move Adana in with her, freeing up the last bedroom for Torah. Yeah! She officially has her own room. Don't be fooled by the two little angels in the picture, though. Adana has only managed to sleep in the same room with Emma a couple of nights; the other nights she is banished to the couch because she won't leave poor Emma alone. The whole room-sharing thing is so much easier with boys.

DAY 2 - Tuesday

The weather was nasty and rainy, so I took the kiddos across the water to Sky High Trampoline. Three things about Sky High - (1) Expensive. (2) Exhausting. (3) So stinkin' fun! I paid for them to jump for 2 hours. They were wiped out after the first hour, but kept on jumping. I was pretty tempted to hop on myself, but, you know . . . just had a baby and all that. I really didn't want to be peeing my pants.
They all said that the foam pit was the best part. Micah & his friend, Coltrane, executing tandem flips. Impressive!
We met up with quite a few friends over there. All the moms grumbled a bit about how expensive it was. And then they grumbled some more when their girls just wanted to play with Torah rather than jump. Torah, on the other hand, LOVED all the attention.

DAY 3 - Wednesday

Another rainy day. I took Jared & Emma shopping. Jared needed new shoes, and Emma needed a swimming suit. Micah stayed home to babysit Adana.

DAY 4 - Thursday

Jared spent the day driving down to Portland with his seminary teacher and a couple friends. They were visiting another friend. Nathan & I took the girls to the local aquatic center. Micah (my little homebody) decided he wasn't in the mood for the crowded pool and stayed home. Oh yeah, and it was pouring rain. Again.

DAY 5 - Friday

Bet you can't guess what the weather was like?? The kids all had play dates lined up, so Nathan & I went out for a lunch date. Definitely the highlight of my Spring Break. Friday evening, after dinner, we took the girls to see Hop. Definitely NOT the highlight of my Spring Break. For one thing, the movie was painfully stupid. Plus Torah decided to, um, have an accident in the middle of the movie. All over herself. All over me. And someone sort of forgot to bring a diaper bag. So Nathan had to run home in the middle of the movie and grab diapers, wipes & a change of clothes.
Even with the welcome diversion of General Conference over the weekend, let's just say that I was fully ready for school to start back up on Monday.
