Raising Adana

Think "Raising Arizona." I sometimes wonder if the Coen brothers are secretly slipping this girl lines.

This morning, Adana was being a bit difficult. She just wouldn't mind me. I'd ask her to get dressed; she'd go play with toys. I'd ask her to clean up her toys; she'd go color a picture. I'd say, "Don't use those star stickers." She'd make me a "special card" that said I Love Mom, and cover them in star stickers. Grrr . . .

Around 10:30am, I told her she could get out of Time Out and go get ready for swimming lessons. She came prancing over to me (the lack of remorse in her body language was clearly evident).

Adana: Hey mom. Can I have a play date on Saturday?

Me (exasperated!): What!? Do you realize that you have been naughty all morning? You haven't minded me once yet today.

Adana: I know. I was going to mind on Friday. That's why I asked for a play date on Saturday.

Can anyone blame me if I need a 2-liter can of Coke Zero occassionally??

Did you ever consider that "time-out" gives her time to think??
