11 Month Birthday

Month 11 Notables:
  • I wish that I could just slam on the breaks and bring time to a screeching halt! Torah is growing up way too fast, and I'm not ready to give up the sweet, cuddly baby stage yet.

  • She suddenly & decisively gave up breastfeeding a few days ago. Just like that - Done! I was hoping to keep going for another year or so, but she had other plans. I try to ease my broken heart by being thankful that the "weaning" process was only difficult for me, not her.

  • She is still an inconsistent sleeper. And she is living proof that the Ferber method does not work for every baby. It worked like a charm for my first 4 kids, but not Torah. Grrrr.

  • Torah is an eater! She is constantly begging for food. But she's pretty picky too. She no longer wants anything that is pureed or spoon-fed to her. She wants finger foods - stuff that she can feed herself. This is a problem for two reasons:

  • Reason #1 - our 14-year old high chair that is on its last legs. There are no straps to keep her contained, and it is missing the big tray (it does have a mini "snack" tray). So I tie her into the chair with one of my aprons, and we put her finger foods in the snack tray. It will work well enough until she is big enough to sit in a booster seat at the table.

  • Reason #2 - she still has no teeth! Zero. Nada. Zilch. She's a freak of nature. :)

  • She is getting very close to taking her first steps. She pulls herself up to standing and can stand unassisted for a few seconds. I think she'll be walking soon, because she is very motivated. It kills her to not be able to run & play with all the other kids.

I know what you mean about growing up too fast. We just gave away our crib last week. All six babies slept in it and now it's gone. :(

Will you post all of Torah's pictures (like with the teddy bear) in chronological order next month? I hope so. It would be fun to see the transformation.

She's a beautiful girl...even without teeth. ;)

I don't know Arlyn, but we must be kindred spirits because I was thinking the same thing; it would be fun to pick one pose and see each month side by side to see the change. She is so stinkin cute!
You guys sure make beautiful babies!

I too wish time would stop. I miss the little baby stages, but must admit the older baby stages are a bit easier. 2 of the boys didn't get teeth until after their first birthday, but cake is easy to gum. Just beware, once they start they all come in! No teeth will keep her looking like a baby longer.

I miss you guys!
