August 2012

I have learned over the years that I am lousy at blogging during the summer.  I try, but by August I seem to fizzle.  So here is a recap of some odds & ends of our last, glorious month of summer.  (I'm also pretty lousy at taking pictures, so some of this will be documented in word only.)

Jared -- UW Soccer Camp.  August started out with Jared attending a great soccer camp at the University of Washington.  He went with his good friend, Noah.  They had a great time, until Jared sprained his ankle pretty bad on the last day.

Micah -- Dungeness Cup Champions!  Micah's soccer team played in the Dungeness Cup in Sequim the first weekend of August.  And they won their age bracket!  Go Azzurri!

Speaking of winning championships . . .
. . . I forgot to mention that Micah's roller hockey team won the D2 Championship this summer!  Micah was one of the top scorers on his team.  Go Kings!

Micah -- Canoe Trip.  Micah spent the 2nd week of August on a canoe trip across Ross Lake.  They even paddled up to the Canadian border.  He was with his friend, Coltrane, so they were sure to have a great time.

Emma -- Horseback Riding lesson.  I bought a Groupon for Emma to take a horseback riding lesson at a local stable.
She loved it!  And she was a complete natural.  Now, to win the lottery so we can afford regular lessons for her . . .
Jared -- Bigfoot tournament.  Jared's soccer team played in the Bigfoot tournament.  They didn't win, but we did enjoy a morning of back-to-school shopping at a nearby outlet mall, so it wasn't a total loss.  :)

Wises move to Houston.  Boo.  :(  Our great friends, Mariann, Jimmy, Izaac & Oz Wise moved to Houston at the end of the month.  They will be missed.  Here are a couple final shots of Torah & her boyfriend, Oz.
They are just the cutest little couple on the beach.
They spent the first 1 1/2 years of their life seeing each other nearly every day.

I am so sad that they won't get to grow up together.
BAH!  Enough of the downer news.  On to more summer fun . . .
Adana caught a butterfly, kept it safe for a day, then let it go.
We turned the temp down on the hot tub & ended up with half the neighborhood in it every afternoon.

Nathan turned 41.  We celebrated with ice cream - at Mora's, of course.

Nathan & I celebrated our 17 wedding anniversary.  I think it's fitting, at this point in our marriage, that this is the only picture I have from the evening.  I sure do love those two.
Micah's team won yet another tournament, this time our local Island Cup.  (That's 3 championships for Micah this summer.  He was very happy!)
Micah with the trophy.  I can't remember how many goals he scored during the tournament, but I know he definitely helped his team win that gold cup.

I love my soccer boys!
More summer fun . . .
Random odd jobs, like getting Micah to scrub out my garbage cans.
The city decided it was time to dredge out our pond.  The tractors were fun to watch.
But not nearly as fun as sledding down the grassy slope into the now cleared out pond ummmmm, dry hole in the ground.
Fun for all ages!
One more summer spectacular event . . . Emma got her ears pierced!

Before.
(That is her "I'm terrified" look.  Trust me.)

After!  (Sorry, you can hardly see them.)
Her awesome friend, Julia, went with us for moral support.
Even though you can't really see the earrings, they look beautiful on her!

Phew!  Summer 2012 is officially documented.  Now, on to Fall . . .

Slow down you are making me tired!

I am still amazed at Micah. I know that he is athletic and awesome at sports, but I just can't get the picture of him running around in his size 4 cat suit out of my head. So it kind of makes me amazed to see him so awesome!
