Vancouver Half Marathon

The second weekend of August, Nathan & I drove up to Vancouver, BC with our friends, the Brooks, to run the Lululemon Half Marathon.
The view from our hotel room.  I LOVE Vancouver!  Our room looked down on the area where the Olympic torch was during the Winter Olympics.
The three of us (Gretchen, Mike & me), race morning, waiting in our corral.
Gretchen & me.
She had a baby just 13 weeks earlier!  Yep, she is amazing.
Nathan was so sweet and volunteered to watch Baby Jane while we ran.
This was the view from our corral.  There were 7500 runners in the race!  And check out their bright clothes.  Gotta love a run sponsored by Lululemon!  :)
I don't have a picture of crossing the finish line; it was too crowded for Nathan to get there.  But I ran it in 2:20, which was right at my target pace.  So I was happy.

After the run, we headed to Meat & Bread for some grub.  All I can say is YUM!  That was one tasty sandwich.
The BACON MAPLE ICE CREAM SANDWICH was pretty YUM too.  :)
Here we are, after having run 13.1 miles, then eaten a monster sandwich & bacon maple ice cream.  You can see which couple is still happy & smiling, and which is ready to crawl into bed.  :)

The race & food & city were all great, but the best part of the weekend was spending it with Nathan.  Oh, and we left the kids all home alone and they did great too!

The kids stayed home alone? Hooray! Freedom! :) And I didn't even know you ran your half. Woo hoo! I love the eating after part!

Was that your happy anniversary trip? Running, ugh. I'd hold the baby too. Nathan is the wise one. Sandwich, yum. Ice cream, only a Russell.

How did Jared hold down the fort for the weekend?! What a kid. You know the kids have to be 18 here to be left...not on this assignment I guess.

You got to leave your kids home ALONE?!? I have to leave mine for 3 hours and get nervous. When can I be a grown up like you?

Go Brooke! I love Vancouver too--if I ever run a half marathon, I want to do the Vancouver run. And your kids are really amazing kiddos.
