My Bruiser Girls!

I have 2 sons. They are your typical boys - rough & tumble, love to wrestle and play hard.

One of them is a soccer fanatic and would rather play with a near-concussion than admit that he's hurt.

The other is a hockey nut (not known to be the safest of sports) and considers a helmet & protective gear to be "optional."

So how is it that this Fall I have made TWO visits to the Radiologist for TWO seperate fractures . . . for my two LITTLE GIRLS!?

Fracture #2 - last night, Adana slammed Emma's hand in her bedroom door. It was an accident, (have your kids ever screwed around at bedtime rather than just Going! To! Bed! like they were told a million times?), but her pinky immediately swelled up bigger than her thumb, turned a nasty shade of purple, and kept her awake in pain all night.

So I spent this morning shuttling between the Doctor's office and the Radiologist. Luckily, it's a minor fracture (I'm thinking: "Luckily it wasn't severed!"). But we still have to wait for the swelling to go down a bit to make sure no tendons were damaged.

And NO (Jessica), I didn't faint. But I sure came close a couple times. Blech.

ooh! I hope you went to a hand specialist. The regular doc told us to wait and see if the tendons were severed on Jess's pinky-he acted like it wasn't a big deal to wait, then the specialist told us that the longer you wait the farther the tendons go down into the palm and the harder it is to find them. . . Weird that both our girl's took a pinky with help from their sister's.

AH man! There's nothing worse, is there?! I hate that feeling! Sometimes it's harder on the mom than the kid, huh? I hope everything heals quickly and NO MORE BREAKS!!!!

I am proud of you, no fainting!
The girls are tough, just like you want them.

Look at that smile on Emma's face! She's got a badge of toughness. Amazingly none of my kids has ever broken anything (knock on wood). Plenty of times they've screamed so loud that it sounded like they must have, though!
