Pictures I forgot to post

I'm so used to forgetting to take pictures of things, that when I actually DO take pictures I forget to post them. So here are some shots of our last few weeks:

Adana's annual marigold crop. I always thought of these as junk flowers - the kind of flower people plant along roadside medians because they're cheap and hearty. Barely a step up from dandelions. But Adana is obsessed with them, so she gets a planter box of them every summer to take care of.

Early morning ferry ride to catch our plane to CA. I hope we've learned our lesson and will never schedule such an early flight again. Blech.

Swimming at the Hubbles pool in Bakersfield. We all came home with nice pre-summer tans.

Here's Micah on a really cool structure at a park in St. George. This was just one feature at the playground - the whole thing was awesome. Remember when we just had a set of monkey bars and one of those metal dome things to climb on - all set on top of a concrete slab? Kids are so spoiled these days. :-)

While we were at my parents house in S. Utah, my dad hired Micah to clean up his back yard. Since it's so blasted HOT there, they have artificial grass. Instead of mowing it, they just vacuum it with a big shop vac. How many of you can honestly say that you've vacuumed a yard?

Adana & I putting flowers on my grandma's casket. I was impressed that she sat so quietly on my mom's lap through most of the service. But later, my mom told me that she kept whispering, "Let's open the box!" I'm sure she envisioned all sorts of cool treasures in such a pretty container.

Climbing on the old canon in Pioneer Park (Walla Walla) with their cousin, Reed. Just like I did at that age. And their grandpa before that.

This is the risk you take if you fall asleep in the car next to your little sister. Adana plucked apart a yellow rose and covered Jared in petals.

It's a hot, boring drive across Washington in June. (Note the remains of yellow rose still on his shouldar.)

Here's Adana after a baseball game. If you think this looks bad, you should see her feet. I had to scrub the tub after her bath.

But she cleans up pretty darn well. How cute is she?!

These 3 shots are to document my "Before" garden. I finally got some plants in the ground (about 3 months later than I'd intended, but better late than never.) I've got soybeans, a couple kinds of squash, tomatoes, lettuce, watermelon, cantelope, pumpkins, cucumbers and herbs. Hopefully something will grow that we can eat.

I was just thinking about how little Adana was in Turkey. But mostly about her baby tan. I loved the white creases. She has really grown up. I missed it...

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Adana told me all about her marigolds last Sunday. That's great she's already so excited about gardening! And I'm proud of you for getting yours planted.
