1) watching your poor, sick child suffer lethargically on the couch with a fever and headache?
or
2) trying to contain that same child from bouncing off the walls when she is suddenly feeling better, but you don't want her to go running around outside and making herself sick again?
(Truth be told, the lousiest part of all this is coming home from Hawaii with a killer tan and not being able to show it off because I'm stuck inside with a maybe/maybe not sick kid. Grrr...)

#2! Of course I hate to watch my kids suffer...but I hate even more stir-crazy housebound semi-sick kids.
I agree with Alisa. Crazy kids in the house...grr. But you and that tan now that is something "sick."
Definitely #2. If they're going to be sick, they'd better REALLY be sick...lots of naps, laying around not wanting to do anything!
I've found the words "you look like you need more Nyquil" do the trick until the child is fully recovered and school-worthy.
And you should totally take pictures of your wicked tan and post them on your blog. Hello? That's what blogs are for!
Except mine, in which I have posted exactly four pictures since I started it almost a year ago.
