Jan. 31: Dress Like Adana Day

I really adore Adana. She's smart, independent, and has a powerful loving streak. This girl loves people and she knows how to have fun.

But I just don't know where she got her fashion sense. While my wardrobe tends to consist solely of clothes in the black/brown/navy blue spectrum, her closet is truly a rainbow of colors . . .
. . . and she's not afraid to wear them! All at once. In a stunning display of mismatched extravagance.

From her fur-trimmed, hot pink vest - over a lime green shirt - over a magenta polka dot turtle neck . . .

. . . to her orange/pink/yellow floral skirt - over turquoise pants - with blue & red rain boots. I may need to offer a few more parameters when I tell her to go get dressed in the mornings.

But while I could never see imagine myself wearing even a piece of her outfit, let alone the whole thing all at once, I do enjoy her self-confidence and vivid enthusiasm.

Maybe we should declare January 31 to be Dress Like Adana Day. Imagine the possibilities . . . Bankers wearing bright orange suits with neon purple ties. Politicians sporting faux fur leopard skin tights with bedazzled puffy shirts. The possibilities are endless and oh so, ummm, fanciful.

Actually, they make me shudder. I'll just stick with my many shades of black.

oh so funny! Maggie and her are exactly alike!! MAggie will wear anything over anything layered 10 times, not matching 1 thing! But i make her change before i run errands so people wont report me lol!! We really need to get our girls together! It would be one eventful meeting!

Don't make her change! I love her fanciful outfits. I always figure if I can dress in matching clothes, people will know I can match and can just smile at my kids when they're a wearing camo-green t-shirt with red track pants and a striped blue and orange stocking hat. (That would be Ben, by the way!)

I love this! She sounds like someone else I know.
I also just got a new pair of running shoes. I'm going to take a pic and send them to you, so you can share them with her! They're right up her alley!

Letting go of the control will be an issue with me. I still send my boys back to their room to change their clothes. I just don't know what a little girl will bring to me....hope that whatever it is, it matches! :)

Although, it all looks darling on Adana.
