8:30pm
Micah: I want grapes. Do we have any grapes?
Me: Nope. Sorry. Have some blueberries.
Micah: No, I really want grapes. Can I go to Safeway and get some?
Me: (rolling my eyes) Sure. How you going to get there?
Micah: Can I take the car?
Me: Go ahead.
8:45pm
Me: Micah? Micah!? Has anyone seen Micah?
I go make sure the car is still in the driveway. It is. But his bike is missing.
9:00pm
Micah comes cruising up the driveway on his bike, carrying a Safeway bag.
Micah: I didn't have enough money for grapes, so I got a can of Spaghetti-o's and a candy bar.

HOLY COW!!!!
Nice! Good thing you live in town, huh?
oh I love you Micah! Bainbridge must be like Provo, you don't have to worry about criminals. (I really don't believe that)
No way! How far away are we talkin? Guess it can't be too far since you live on an "island" and all. Next time send him with a list so he can helpful at the same time.
This is so funny, Brooke! We happened to see Micah on his bike that night, and Darrel and I talked about "free range" kids, and how cool it is that you're raising your kids like that!
For what it's worth, he totally looked confident, in control, and safely waited until after the firetruck, with lights flashing and sirens sounding, went by to cross the street at the crosswalk.
I'm wondering if he'll remember to take his own bag next time?
