Emma just finished up her week of Vacation Bible School at the Lutheran church just up the street from us. I've got to say - I love Vacation Bible School. It is, hands down, the best deal around.
For a measly $25, she gets a week (Monday-Friday 9:00-12:00pm) of summer camp. They sing songs, do crafts, play games, eat snacks . . . What's not to love!?

One day, they were learning about the story of Jesus walking on water. They filled a big tub with water and had the kids walk through it. Then they filled it with "Goop" (a combination of glue, borax, and water) and the kids were able to walk on top of it. The Deep Message behind it was pretty much lost on Emma, but she sure had fun! What kid wouldn't love walking barefoot on a tub of Goop!? :-) And I guarantee that that particular Bible story is permanently embedded in her mind.
This was our 3rd year of VBS, and I look forward to many more years to come. (And, just between you and me, I am SO thankful that other churches besides ours are willing to host these. Because it is a heckuva lotta work!)
