After Swim Lessons

This evening was the girls' last swim lesson. This was the first time that we've ever done formal lessons. I've always just taught the kids myself. But since we've lived here, it hasn't been as easy to get to the pool frequently. So I decided to put Emma & Adana in lessons at the local Aquatic Center.

Since I'd never done this before, I had no idea what level to put them in. Adana did great in her Kinder 1 class. She loved "bobbing" and going under water (as long as she had her goggles on). She easily passed on to the next level - Kinder 2. Woo Hoo. (Sarcastic Micah said, "What do you have to do to pass Kinder 1? Just manage to not drown?")

I didn't do so well placing Emma. I put her in Minnows, because the brochure said that's what most kids her age/grade do. But she was way beyond what they were doing, so she could have easily been in a higher level. Unfortunately, the higher levels were full, so she just stuck it out in Minnows. I'm hoping that she can try out for Swim Team soon.

Yep -- Micah definitely is one of ours. You must have gotten him by mistake.

Wasn't Adana afraid to get in the pool this summer? I remember having to hold her the whole time we were in the water. I don't mind--part of my aunt duties!! I guess that prepared her for "not drowning"

Good job, Adana! Ben has been stuck in Kinder 3 for a year. Oh well. He's technically supposed to be in Minnow since he's 6, but the lesson time for K3 works so much better for me. I know, it's all about me! If he doesn't pass this next session I'm going to move him up with the "bigger kids" so he doesn't get a complex!

I can't wait for summer, when the boys come home from swim lessons and fall asleep from exhaustion! Makes the summer heat go by faster. It has been rainy and cold here, the snow level is dropping we are all praying for a snow day!!
