Emma

Emma lost her 3rd tooth on Monday. She now has a gaping hole in her mouth. It's very funny to watch her gnaw away at an apple. She has a few more loose teeth still, so we may need to get her a set of dentures soon . . .

I think we may be the last district in the country to head back to school. Today was our first day back. I have kids going every which way this year. Adana, of course, is still home (although day care is sounding better and better . . . more on that later). Micah is also home full-time this year. Jared is going to 7th grade at the middle school for 1/2 day (afternoons). He'll be taking science, algebra & PE. And Emma is going to 1st grade at the elementary school for 1/2 day (mornings).

Here was a first for me: sending a kid off on the school bus. I've been adamently anti-school bus ever since I can remember. But we live in such a quiet small town, and she has so many friends riding the bus (and I calculated that it would cost me about $1/day to drop her off & pick her up. Times 5 days/week. Times 36 week . . . Tightwad mom won over Motherbear mom.)

So here is Emma at the bus stop, with all our neighborhood kids who will be riding her bus.

I love Emma's toothless grin! I miss Jillian's cute mouth with two top front and two bottom front teeth missing. The permanent teeth aren't so cute!

As far as bus riding, you're adding money into the school district budget by letting Emma ride the bus (as long as she rides every day during bus count week, starts Sept. 22nd, I think.) Way to go! Less wrapping paper and cookie dough you have to buy from the PTO!
