We had a little mouse move into our house. She found herself a nice comfy home underneath the cupboard in the kitchen, right next door to our pantry. Unfortunately (for her), she wasn't the brightest of mice. I would catch her scampering from mouse house to pantry at all hours, even in the middle of the day when the kitchen was full of kids and our cat.
I pretty much ignored her until I started noticing little nibbles out of my popcorn bag, the gnawed remains of a chocolate bar on the pantry floor, and tiny droppings around the cereal boxes. Still, I didn't want to set one of those cruel traps, so I hoped to catch her and release her unharmed.
This morning, Nathan called from the pantry, "Bring the cat!" After a 15 minute chase up and down the pantry shelves, she bolted for her mouse hole. Jared was there waiting and trapped her under a Tupperware bowl. We gently slide some cardboard under her and Nathan carried her out to the woods behind our house.
So now we are mouse free. I spent the morning deep cleaning the pantry.
Now, if we could just get rid of those *&#! moles that easily.

Oh my goodness! That is amazing! I can't believe Jared trapped it under a bowl!
what team work! bravo!
I am glad it was your house and not mine. I might have had a heart attack.
You're way too nice! Kind of reminds me of the story Kathryn Moss's dad told at the mother/daughter outing a few weeks ago. When he was a kid, he and his younger brother caught a mouse and tried to flush it down the toilet! When they first dropped it in, it swam around very calmly, like it was enjoying itself. Then came the FLUSH and the mouse started paddling frantically. After five or six attempts (mouse still paddling frantically) the boys felt sorry for it, pulled it out by the tail and set it free in the back yard!
My mom would have just moved. We were never allowed any sort of rodent for a pet (hamsters included) because she is TERRIFIED of mice! My brother let his daughter get a hamster and my mom refused to step foot inside his house! (luckily it died and now she'll go in) Pretty funny, huh?
Way to let the little thing live.
Umm....don't ya think the mouse can just come back in the house again? Just a thought...I am a mouse killer after all. :)
I am glad that I am not the only one with critters...we have roaches, all sizes, we have pest control but it doesn't help...part of the desert climate and having swamp coolers...I think I would prefer the occasional mouse!
