Hyvaa Itsenaisyys Paivaa!

I need to figure out how to use a font that has umlauts. There are supposed to be 2 little dots over all the a's in the title. I know it is probably driving everyone crazy, just looking at that title without those dang umlauts! I can barely stand it.
Anyways, the translation (for you non-Finnish speakers) is Happy Finnish Independence Day! We celebrate it every year. Our feast on December 6th is more anticipated around here than Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Nathan stays up until 2am the night before, preparing food. Then he has to go around the house and hang up all of his Finnish flags. We have a good friend on the island, Outi, who is a Finn, so she and her family join us for dinner. We also have some great friends from dental school, Judson & Amalie, who have celebrated with us for many years. It's all about tradition around here.
And no, neither Nathan nor I are Finns, nor do we have Finnish ancestry. We met in Finland 14 years ago, and we've celebrated this holiday ever since. (Truth be told, we'll do just about anything for good food. As Outi says, "It's all about the food, baby!")
