It was sunny today, so we bundled up and headed for Battle Point Park.
Then we all walked around the duck pond. Micah has developed an obsession with birds. So, wearing his new Field Jacket and toting his new binoculars, he got down to the serious business of identifying every single water fowl on the pond.
We eventually got cold and tired of looking at the same waddling ducks, so we took off around the pond. I (foolishly) assumed Micah would follow. But he had to stay and record everything he saw (including an otter feeding on fish in the pond) in his Field Guide.
I swear he's going to be the next Marlin Perkins.

Oh, I have someone to whom he can talk / by whom he might be lectured. If you ever want to know more than you ever wanted to know about birds and birding, Ian is your man. I (finally!) bought him a spotting scope for Christmas to go with his binoculars. He has spent too much of the past week badgering about new plants to put in this spring to attract birds....
If this is a serious interest, check out/ join your local Audubon society; Ian also can recommend magazines, etc.
Sounds like a lot of fun, nothing like a day in the park!
