. . . I would now be able to post pictures of our joyous greeting of our good friends, the Cranneys, when they arrived last Friday afternoon. I would have pictures of our kids and their kids hugging each other as if it had been years since we'd been together, rather than less than 2 months.
If I hadn't forgotten my camera, I would have pictures of our kids playing board games, soccer, basketball, and a dozen nameless games which they effortlessly create from their abundant imaginations. There would be pictures of us roasting in the sun at Jared's baseball game - red cheeks, sweaty bodies - plus more pictures of the crazy kids swimming in the Puget Sound afterwards. I would surely post a picture of Emma & Emily, completely covered in mud from head to toe, throwing mud high into the air and feeling it fall back on themselves.
If I had remembered to bring along my camera, I would have some great pictures of us riding the ferry to Seattle yesterday, then exploring Pike's Market. I'd have a shot of all the kids straddling "Rachel the Pig" in front of the fish throwers. And I'd probably have a shot of the guys in orange rubber pants throwing the fish that the Cranneys bought for us. I wish I also had a picture to post of Emma & Emily wearing the matching necklaces that Emma bought for them, with her own money, at the Market. She says that she is never going to take hers off, like a wedding ring, so she will always be connected to Emily.
And if I didn't always leave my camera at home, I would have lots of pictures of us doing what we love most - eating! Our neighborhood BBQ on the one sunny day of their stay, our 2nd BBQ feast where we polished off close to a ton of meat, 2 mouth-watering Thai dinners (because you can never eat enough Thai food). And our "last night together" Mora's Ice Cream delight!
I actually thought about getting the camera out this morning, as they were loading their suitcases into the airport shuttle van, on their way to their new home in England. But I decided that it wasn't really a moment that I wanted to remember.
We'll miss you! Long live the Crussneys!

This is so sad! Saying goodbye to friends is never easy, especially when your kids love them too. Guess you'll have to make a trip to England! That will be fun, and a free place to stay? Even better. Need a nanny to come along? :)
Visit? Heck, I want to MOVE there!
Amen! same sort of weather, yet it would be more tolerable because it is a foreign country. This "bloody" (I think that is an english swear word) is whacko.
