Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day

Last night, I went to see this fun movie. It was light-hearted and cheery - sort of a "Mary Poppins meets Nanny McPhee," with some blonde bombshell thrown in for fun.

My first impression was pretty positive. The characters were likable, attractive and it's always enjoyable to listen to a good British accent.

**Warning: Spoilers coming.**

But then . . . the ending. Just as Hollywood intended, I initially found myself cheering when the girl chose the right guy. I am always amazed (and frightened) at how movies are able to control my mind. In a normal setting, if someone told me a story about a ditsy blonde who sleeps around, acts like a royal ass to the one good man in her life, then ends up marrying him in the end, I would be furious. I don't care if you're a man or woman, you can't treat someone like crap, then, at the last minute, change your mind and marry him/her. (see #2)

But in a movie, with the music controlling your emotions, and the words perfectly scripted, and the lighting just right . . . somehow it all seems like a great idea for the super-handsome, sweet, loyal man to marry the beautiful, puppy-eyed heroine (even though she's a big liar & a cheat).

Still, I recommend this movie. It's a renter, if for nothing else than the great soundtrack. I couldn't stop tapping my foot through the whole show. I loved the jazzy, big band sounds.

In case you haven't seen it yet, here's a trailer.

Ya little hussy! Recommending a movie with lying, cheating, and all types of immoral behaviors? Thanks...just my type of movie. :) I noticed that we were posting blogs at the same time tonight, we are kindred bloggers.
